CJST（コンテンポラリージュエリーシンポジウム東京）は、様々なプロジェクトを通して日本におけるジュエリー表現文化の活性化、発展、普及を目指し「芸術の歴史に残るムーブメントを起こす」ことを目標に、アーティストの寺嶋孝佳が同志である小嶋崇嗣に声をかけ2019年よりスタートしました。
国内では西洋式ジュエリーの歴史は浅く、商業的、ファッション的価値の範疇でしか理解されていない人が多いのではないでしょうか。50年代中頃以降、本格的に欧州からジュエリー表現文化が輸入され、現代美術分野の動向を意識し影響を受けながら今日まで多くの作家が誕生しました。しかし、彼彼女たちの活動や作品が大きく取り上げられることは無かったと言わざるをえません。
私たちは、ジュエリーの機能や概念を利用して芸術作品を作ることは可能だと考えます。ですが作家個人での活動には限界があることも事実です。そこでジュエリー作品を国内へ浸透させる時代のうねりを起こすためにCJSTは発足しました。その核として「シンポジウム」「公募展」そして「美術館ジュエリー作品寄贈」という3プロジェクトを中心に、社会との接続を目指して企画運営を行なっています。小さく孤立した個人的な活動ではなく、美術関係者や鑑賞者、周辺地域の方々と繋がることで生まれるコミュニティの再構築が目的であり、その結果、ジュエリー表現文化の定着とムーブメントが起きるきっかけが出来ると信じています。

【沿革】
2019年5月
ドイツで開催されているコンテンポラリージュエリーに特化した国際シンポジウム「Schmucksymposium」に寺嶋孝佳が参加したことをきっかけに、日本国内の問題に焦点を当てたCJSTの構想を練り始める。
2019年10月
同志であるアーティストの小嶋崇嗣を代表に「コンテンポラリージュエリーシンポジウム東京」を設立。
2020年4月
第1回目のシンポジウムプロジェクトを計画するも新型コロナウィルス規制の影響で延期に。
2021年2月
若手作家を対象としたアーティスト紹介プロジェクトをInstagramで開始。
2021年5月
第1回シンポジウムプロジェクト「Contemporary Jewellery Symposium Tokyo 2021」開催。
2021年10月
第1回公募展プロジェクト「コンテンポラリージュエリー展“ペンダント”」募集開始。
2022年5月
キュレーターの田中雅子氏に協力を依頼し、美術館ジュエリー作品寄贈プロジェクトを本格的に開始。
2022年9月
「コンテンポラリージュエリー展“ペンダント”」を東京のレンタルスペースにて初開催。
2023年1月
第2回公募展プロジェクト「コンテンポラリージュエリー展“リング”」募集開始。
2023年3月
ドイツ・ミュンヘンジュエリーウィークに初参加。
2023年5月
ポーランド・レグニッツァのジュエリーフェスティバルに初参加。
About CJST
CJST(Contemporary Jewellery Symposium Tokyo) was founded in 2019 by artist Takayoshi Terajima and his like-minded peer, Takashi Kojima, to revitalize, develop, and promote the culture of jewelry expression in Japan through various projects. The goal is to establish a movement that will leave a lasting mark on art history.
In Japan, it is extremely difficult to earn a sufficient income by presenting jewelry as a means of personal expression rather than as a fashion market. From the mid-1950s, the culture of jewelry expression was seriously imported from Europe, and many artists have been born to this day, conscious of and influenced by contemporary art. However, we must say that they were not widely covered.
We believe that it is possible to create works of art using the functions and concepts of jewelry. However, it is also true that there are limits to the activities of individual artists. Therefore, CJST provides an opportunity to disseminate jewelry works domestically. At the core of our efforts, we plan and manage three projects with the aim of connecting with society: "the Symposium Project," "the Juried Exhibition Project," and "the Project to Donate Jewelry to Art Museums." The purpose is not to be a small and isolated artist's activity, but to rebuild a community that is created by connecting with art people, viewers, and people in the surrounding area.As a result, I believe that this will create an opportunity for a jewelry expression culture to take root and a movement to take place. we believe.

- The Symposium Project: Identifying issues and raising awareness among insiders in the field of contemporary jewelry.
- The Juried Exhibition Project: Providing opportunities for artists to showcase their work, disseminating information into society, and attracting collectors.
- The Project to Donate Jewelry to Art Museums: Creating Japan's first hub for the culture of jewelry expression/contemporary jewelry and promoting regional revitalization.
